Housing Assignments and Policies
For policies regarding residence halls at the University of Saint Francis, view the Residence Hall Policy section of the Student Handbook.
The university requires that all full-time undergraduate students reside on campus for two academic years, with the exception of any of the following conditions:
- You are 21 years of age prior to the start of the academic year in which you are enrolling.
- You live with a parent or legal guardian at their primary residence within a 50-mile radius of the University of Saint Francis. Note: Owning or purchasing real estate within the 50-mile radius of the University of Saint Francis does not qualify.
- You are a transfer student who has completed two academic years at another institution.
- You are married (supporting documents required).
- You have dependent children living with you (supporting documents required).
- You are independent by tax definition (supporting documents required).
All students who are required to live on campus will be charged the standard double occupancy Room and Board rate.
Students who cancel their housing agreement by moving out mid-semester will forfeit their full housing deposit and will be refunded for Room and Board charges according to the University Refund Policy. Contact your Hall Director to discuss plans and checkout procedures
Resident (I will be living on campus):
- Submit your Housing Intent Form. This form can be found on Form Central (my.sf.edu). Select Student forms and the Housing Intent Form will be found under the Campus Life section of the page.
- Make your $200 refundable Housing Deposit. This deposit is returned to you after you move out of the residence halls (minus any damage charges or housing fines). Do so by visiting My Cougar Connection (my.sf.edu), selecting My Sites > Colleague Self Service > Make a Payment > Continue to Payment Center > Deposits > [select the term you are entering the University of Saint Francis] > Housing Deposit.
Commuter (I will be living off-campus and meet one or more criteria to do so):
Submit your Housing Intent Form. This form can be found on Form Central (my.sf.edu)> Form Central> Housing Intent.
Submit a new Housing Intent Form via Form Central (my.sf.edu > Form Central > Housing Intent). The most recently submitted Housing Intent will serve as the active form at any given time, thus canceling previously submitted forms.
Changes in housing status after July 30 for Fall entry and January 8 for Spring entry will result in a forfeiture of your housing deposit.
I have notified Financial Aid of my housing plans. Is that sufficient?
No. The only way to officially register your housing status (resident or commuter) is to submit your Housing Intent Form. This includes changes in your housing status.
Yes. If you and your future roommate know you want to live together, you will both need to name one another when prompted on your Housing Intent Form. If both students name the other and you are both incoming students, you will be placed together. Students in their first year of college may not live with upperclassmen because all first-year students are placed in first-year halls.
New students have the option to request a single room (a private bedroom without a roommate) on their Housing Intent Form under the “special requests” section. Please note that inventory of single rooms is limited.
Students who require a single room due to a documented accommodation must submit a student accessibility registration form through Form Central (my.sf.edu > Form Central > Academic Support > Student Accessibility Registration).
Single room requests that are not related to documented accommodations are approved based on availability. Availability is limited, and a single room cannot be guaranteed at any time. The rate for a single room is approximately $500 higher per semester compared to the standard double room rate.
Students in their first year of college live in Trinity Hall (men) and Bonzel Hall (women), with overflow available in Clare hall, as needed.
Sophomores and above have the opportunity to choose their housing in Clare or Padua halls, as space allows. If you are a transfer student, you may note your preference between Clare and Padua on your Housing Intent Form in the “special requests” field.
Costs & Fees
Room and Board (housing and meal plan) is one all-inclusive rate at Saint Francis. Explore current tuition and fees.
Room and Board is billed by the occupancy of the room. Trinity, Bonzel and Clare Halls have double-occupancy rooms (two people per bedroom), with single-occupancy bedrooms available as space allows. Padua Hall has single-occupancy bedrooms (one person per bedroom).
Room and Board includes all of the following amenities and services: furnished room (bed, desk, dresser, bookshelf), community lounges, shared kitchens, utilities, unlimited laundry, cable, Wi-Fi, and a full meal plan.
No. Room and Board (housing and meal plan) is one all-inclusive rate at USF. As a residential student, your OneCard (student ID) is automatically loaded with 19 meal swipes per week and $20 in meal points per semester.
You are not required to have renter’s insurance, but it is recommended. Check to see if your family’s homeowner’s insurance policy will cover your items on campus in the event of loss due to theft or fire. Otherwise, you should consider purchasing renter’s insurance at a nominal fee.
